A comforting dish combining orzo pasta, creamy cheese, fresh broccoli, and tender chicken, perfect for family dinners or meal prep.

Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • ½ medium onion (chopped)
  • 3 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 2 cups broccoli florets (fresh or thawed frozen)
  • ½ tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup orzo pasta
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 cups cooked shredded chicken (e.g., rotisserie)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (preferably sharp)
  • Salt & pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil and butter in a skillet over medium heat.
  2. Sauté onions for 3–4 minutes until they become soft.
  3. Add broccoli and cook for 2 more minutes.
  4. Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, and orzo pasta; toast for 30 seconds.
  5. Pour in chicken broth, heavy cream, and Worcestershire sauce. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and let it simmer.
  6. Cook uncovered for about 10 minutes, stirring often.
  7. Add cooked chicken and stir to heat through.
  8. Remove from heat and stir in shredded cheddar cheese until melted.
  9. Season with salt and pepper to taste. Let it sit for 2–3 minutes to thicken before serving.

Notes

For a quicker option, use pre-cooked rotisserie chicken. Feel free to add other vegetables like spinach or bell peppers for extra nutrition.
