Ingredients

  • 1 pound lean ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce

  2. Add the minced garlic and ginger and cook just until fragrant — about 30–45 seconds.
  3. Add the ground beef and use a spatula to break it into small pieces.
  4. Cook until the meat is thoroughly browned and any liquid has mostly evaporated.
  5. Stir in soy sauce, sugar, and red pepper flakes, then let the mixture simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  6. Remove from heat, stir in the chopped green onions, and serve immediately over hot rice.

For a gluten-free option, use tamari or coconut aminos. You can also use brown sugar or honey as substitutes for granulated sugar.
