Strawberry Chocolate Cake

A rich and moist chocolate cake layered with fresh strawberries, perfect for any celebration.

Ingredients

  • 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • ½ cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. Mix the dry ingredients: flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cream the butter and granulated sugar in a separate bowl until light and fluffy.
  4. Add eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla to the butter mixture; blend until smooth.
  5. Pour the boiling water into the batter and mix until combined.
  6. Divide the batter evenly between the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks to cool completely.
  8. Whip the softened butter and powdered sugar together for the frosting; add heavy cream and mix until fluffy.
  9. Spread a layer of frosting between the cooled cake layers and top with sliced strawberries.
  10. Decorate the top with more strawberries and additional frosting if desired.

Notes

Best enjoyed chilled. Can pair with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
