Terms & Conditions
Look, we get it—nobody wakes up excited to read legal documents. But here’s the thing: these terms exist to protect both you and us as we build this fermented foods community together. We’ve tried to keep the legalese to a minimum and explain everything in plain English. If something’s confusing, email us at contact@pedrorecipes.com. Pedro personally reads every message, and he’s way better at explaining things than lawyers are.
By using PedroRecipes.com (that’s us!), you’re agreeing to these terms. If you don’t agree, that’s totally okay—we just ask that you don’t use the site. Fair enough?
1. Acceptance of Terms
When you access PedroRecipes.com, use our recipes, leave comments, or sign up for our newsletter, you’re entering into an agreement with Bluesky Creativity LLC (our official business name, though everyone just calls us Pedro Recipes). These terms apply to everyone—casual browsers, dedicated fermentation enthusiasts, and that one person who emails us at 2 AM with sourdough starter questions (yes, James answers those).
We reserve the right to update these terms as our blog grows and evolves. We’re constantly learning—like that time William discovered his kombucha timing was all wrong after fifteen years of professional cooking. When we make significant changes, we’ll update the “Last Updated” date above and post a notification on the homepage. We won’t change things just for fun; we’ll do it when necessary to protect our community or comply with legal requirements.
2. Use of Our Content
What You Can Do
Our recipes are meant to be cooked! Here’s what you’re absolutely welcome to do:
- Cook our recipes for yourself, your family, your friends, your neighbors, that potluck at work—anyone you want to feed
- Share links to our recipes on social media, in emails, in text messages (we love when people share!)
- Print recipes for personal use in your kitchen—Gary specifically photographs them to look good printed on sauce-splattered paper
- Adapt and modify recipes for your own cooking (that’s how the best recipes evolve!)
- Reference our techniques in your own writing, as long as you credit Pedro Recipes and link back to us
What You Can’t Do
Here’s where we have to draw some lines to protect our work:
- Don’t republish our recipes on your own blog, website, or publication without explicit written permission. This includes copying and pasting the full recipe—even if you credit us
- Don’t use our photos without permission. Gary spends hours getting those shots right, often ruining perfectly good ferments in the process
- Don’t sell our recipes as part of a cookbook, meal plan service, or commercial product without a licensing agreement
- Don’t scrape our content using bots or automated tools. Dale built some pretty good defenses against this, and we will pursue legal action
- Don’t claim our recipes as your own. We’ve spent years developing and testing these—that work deserves recognition
For Food Bloggers & Content Creators: Want to share one of our recipes with your audience? We love collaboration! You can share a brief description (2-3 sentences), one photo with credit, and a link back to the full recipe. If you want to do more than that, reach out to writer@pedrorecipes.com and let’s talk. We’re usually pretty accommodating with people who ask nicely.
3. User Contributions & Community Guidelines
We love when you engage with our content—leaving comments, sharing photos of your fermented creations, asking questions, or telling us when something didn’t work (John specifically appreciates the honest feedback). But to keep our community helpful and welcoming, here are the ground rules:
Comments & Feedback
When you leave a comment or review on PedroRecipes.com, you’re giving us permission to display it publicly and use it in our marketing (like those “reader success stories” sections). You retain ownership of your words, but you’re granting us a license to use them. You can always email us at contact@pedrorecipes.com if you want a comment removed.
What We Won’t Tolerate
- Spam or promotional content disguised as comments (we see you, MLM bots)
- Harassment or personal attacks toward us or other community members
- Offensive, discriminatory, or hateful language of any kind
- Misinformation about food safety, especially regarding fermentation (this is serious stuff)
- Links to malicious websites or attempts to phish other users
We moderate comments manually because we actually read them. If your comment violates these guidelines, we’ll remove it. Repeat offenders will be blocked. We’re building a community here, not a free-for-all.
4. Intellectual Property Rights
Everything on PedroRecipes.com—the recipes, photographs, written content, website design, our logo, even Dale’s custom recipe platform—is owned by Bluesky Creativity LLC or our licensors. This content is protected by U.S. copyright law and international treaties.
The “Pedro Recipes” name and logo are trademarks of Bluesky Creativity LLC. You can’t use them without permission to promote your own products or services. If you want to collaborate or partner with us in some official capacity, email contact@pedrorecipes.com and let’s discuss it.
5. Fermented Foods Disclaimers
Here’s where we need to be really clear about something: fermented foods are generally safe when made properly, but there are real risks if you don’t follow food safety guidelines. We’ve tested every single recipe multiple times (John’s kitchen has hosted some truly questionable fermentation experiments), but we can’t control what happens in your kitchen.
CRITICAL FOOD SAFETY INFORMATION:
- Our recipes are for informational and educational purposes—not professional food production advice
- We provide guidelines based on our experience, but you are responsible for food safety in your own kitchen
- If something looks, smells, or tastes wrong during fermentation, trust your instincts and throw it out
- Botulism, while rare in properly fermented foods, is a serious risk with improper techniques
- People with compromised immune systems, pregnant women, and young children should consult healthcare providers before consuming home-fermented foods
- Always use clean equipment, proper salt ratios, and follow fermentation temperatures and timelines
We are not medical professionals. While Pedro, James, William, and John have extensive culinary experience, none of us are doctors, nutritionists, or food scientists. If you have allergies, dietary restrictions, or health conditions that might be affected by fermented foods, please consult your healthcare provider before trying our recipes.
6. Limitation of Liability
Look, we test every recipe extensively—like, to the point where our families get tired of eating the same fermented pickles for the fifteenth time. But we can’t guarantee results in your specific kitchen with your specific ingredients and equipment. Here’s the legal reality:
PedroRecipes.com and Bluesky Creativity LLC are not liable for:
- Food safety issues resulting from improper technique or contaminated equipment in your kitchen
- Allergic reactions or health issues from ingredients (always check labels and know your allergies)
- Failed fermentation batches (we’ve had plenty ourselves—it happens)
- Property damage from fermentation gone wrong (like that one time James’s kombucha bottle exploded)
- Any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from use of our content
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claims arising from your use of PedroRecipes.com will not exceed $100 or the amount you paid us for any services (which is probably zero if you’re just using the free recipes).
Some jurisdictions don’t allow limitation of liability for certain types of damages, so some of these limitations might not apply to you. You’ll still have whatever rights the law guarantees.
7. External Links & Third-Party Content
Sometimes we link to other websites—equipment suppliers we trust, fermentation resources we love, or scientific studies about probiotics. These links are for your convenience, but we don’t control those sites and we’re not responsible for their content, accuracy, or privacy practices.
When you click an external link, you’re leaving PedroRecipes.com and entering someone else’s territory. We carefully vet links before including them, but websites change. If you find a broken or suspicious link, please let us know at support@pedrorecipes.com.
8. User Accounts & Newsletter Subscriptions
If you create an account or subscribe to our newsletter, you’re responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. Don’t share your password (seriously, don’t—Dale worked hard on the security).
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms or engage in suspicious activity. If we do this, we’ll usually try to contact you first unless the violation is severe or poses security risks to other users.
You can cancel your newsletter subscription or delete your account at any time. Just click the unsubscribe link in any email, or contact support@pedrorecipes.com.
9. Modifications to Service
We’re constantly improving PedroRecipes.com—adding new features, refining recipes, occasionally redesigning things when Dale gets excited about new web technologies. We might modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the website at any time without prior notice.
We don’t take this lightly. If we’re making major changes that affect how you use the site, we’ll do our best to communicate that clearly. But ultimately, we need the flexibility to evolve as our understanding of fermented foods and community needs grow.
10. Governing Law & Dispute Resolution
These Terms & Conditions are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Our official business address is in Anaheim, California, which is where any legal disputes would be handled.
If you have an issue with us, we genuinely want to resolve it before anyone talks to lawyers. Email Pedro directly at contact@pedrorecipes.com and let’s figure it out like reasonable people. We’ve never had a situation we couldn’t work through with honest conversation.
If for some reason we can’t resolve a dispute informally, you agree that any legal action must be brought in the state or federal courts located in Orange County, California, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
11. Severability
If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid by a court, that provision will be modified to reflect the parties’ intention as closely as possible, and the remaining provisions will continue in full effect. Basically, if one part doesn’t hold up legally, the rest of the agreement still stands.
12. Entire Agreement
These Terms & Conditions, along with our Privacy Policy and Disclaimer, constitute the entire agreement between you and Bluesky Creativity LLC regarding your use of PedroRecipes.com. They supersede any prior agreements or understandings, whether written or oral.
