Ingredients
- 1 cup filtered water
- 1-inch piece fresh ginger root, peeled and grated
- Juice of 1 medium lemon (about 2 tablespoons)
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- ¼ teaspoon ground turmeric
- 1 teaspoon raw honey
- Pinch of black pepper
- Optional: pinch of cayenne pepper
Instructions
- Heat water in a small saucepan over medium heat until it begins to simmer. Add grated ginger and steep for 3–5 minutes.
- Reduce heat to low. Add ground cinnamon, turmeric, and black pepper. Stir for 30 seconds, then add fresh lemon juice.
- Remove from heat. Let cool for 1 minute, then stir in raw honey until dissolved. Strain into a mug and serve warm.
Notes
Drink on an empty stomach in the morning or 20–30 minutes before a meal. Store batches in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently — do not boil.
