Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 large onions, sliced
- 1 pound ground beef (80/20 recommended)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
- 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the sliced onions and cook until softened and caramelized, about 10–15 minutes.
- Stir in the ground beef, breaking it into small pieces, and season with salt and pepper. Cook until browned and cooked through.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F.
- Split the hoagie rolls and fill them with the beef mixture.
- Top each sandwich with shredded cheese.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 5–7 minutes, until the cheese is melted and the rolls are warm.
- Serve immediately while hot and gooey.
Notes
For a party, slice rolls into smaller portions and offer toppings like sliced banana peppers or sautéed mushrooms for customization. To avoid soggy sandwiches, keep beef and rolls separate and assemble just before serving.
