  • Total Time: 120 minutes
  • Yield: 8 servings

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Your choice of fillings (fruit preserves, whipped cream, custard)
  • Light icing for frosting
  • Fresh fruits or edible flowers for decoration

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Mix the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Cream the butter with an electric mixer until fluffy, then add the eggs and vanilla.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with milk, until well combined.
  5. Pour the batter into greased cake pans and smooth the top.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  7. Remove from the oven and let it cool completely on a wire rack.
  8. Slice the cooled cake into layers, spreading your chosen fillings between each layer.
  9. Frost the outside of the cake with light icing.
  10. Decorate with fresh fruits or edible flowers.

Notes

Allow cake layers to cool completely before assembling to prevent the frosting from melting. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to three days.
