Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 ½ cups granulated sugar
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk (or almond/coconut milk for dairy-free)
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- ½ cup whipped cream or frosting
- Natural colorings (beetroot or berry puree)
- Fresh berries or edible flowers for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pans.
- Mix the dry ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
- Combine the wet ingredients in another bowl.
- Incorporate the dry mixture into the wet mixture, being careful not to over-mix.
- Bake for 25-35 minutes or until golden and a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the layers completely before frosting them with whipped cream or frosting.
- Decorate with fresh berries or edible flowers before serving.
Notes
Allow eggs to come to room temperature for the best texture. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for about a week.
